We framed like madmen for a week, getting the new walls and roof on just in time to protect the interior of the house from our typical wet winter.

After Christmas I found time to frame the new roofs you see half way up the exterior walls. The house sits on a hilltop and is exposed to wind driven rain. These little roofs protect the windows, doors, and siding from that rain, as well as provide shade from the hot summer sun. I also like the way they visually break up the large vertical surfaces that adding the second story left us with.
